2BForest signs “Manifesto for a non-discriminatory forest”
Because Portugal does not have a species problem but rather serious structural problems, we subscribe to this manifesto!
Problems such as the lack of implementation of land use planning mechanisms, the lack of oversight by the relevant authorities, the lack of active property management, and policies that serve the short term to garner votes in the next elections. These problems strangle the sustainable development of rural areas!
Because we need politicians and policies that promote and care about the rural world! Where the main economic activities are those related to forests and the products and services they provide, we believe that political measures must be aligned with the interests of the various stakeholders in the economic, social, and environmental sectors, aiming to develop a medium- to long-term strategy that is beneficial to the country, not based on populist and electoral media hype and misinformation.
2BForest does not defend any particular species, but rather the need for active management of all species in Portugal!
Because all species have their space and function in the national territory, eucalyptus is no exception, which, under suitable conditions for its development, plays a very important role in guaranteeing the quality of life of many companies and communities in the Rural World, and therefore should not serve to expiate guilt or serve as a shield for the past, present and future inactivity in the National Forest of successive governments and parliamentary groups!
Because it is necessary to maintain and improve the quality of life of rural communities, because it is necessary to guarantee the safety of the people who live in and enjoy the forests, 2bforest subscribes to this manifesto!
