2BForest wins Honorable Mention, Forest and Sustainability Award

In this sense, in 2019 2BForest developed the service whose strategy is:

• Identify environmental and ecological services that the forest offers to society;

• Ensure, in a logic win-win, the development of market segment strategies for ecosystem services;

• Develop market alternatives to respond to legal land use conditions;

• Give visibility and promote the services and benefits generated by forest areas managed sustainably.

At the same time, forest certification faces the challenge of ensuring a commitment to managing natural resources in a sustainable and technologically attractive manner for forest owners and technicians, both at the production and conservation levels.

The biggest difficulty in promoting Active Forest Management is in marginal areas, without traditional production alternatives. In this sense, on March 19, 2021, 2BForest obtained Ecosystem Services certification to value these services and generate returns for landowners. Inherent in this certification is the theory of change, which brings additional value to the project, increasing the impact of ecosystem services. Thus, in the areas included in the ecosystem services certification, changes were introduced to operational measures, such as fire prevention, promotion of natural regeneration, combating woody invasive species, and conversion of exotic species.

As a result of the initiatives developed, the project “Ecossistem Services powered by ForestSIM” aims to create value for two types of customers:

• Owners, providing online support for Active Forest Management with ForestSIM® and establishing a mechanism that allows you to diversify your income through the sale of Ecosystem Services in non-traditional markets, increasing the value of your properties;

• Sponsor Companies, with commitments within the scope of the social and environmental responsibility policy, who find in the certified and internationally recognized service a credible solution that allows them to transparently claim this support for the services that the national forest produces, promoting rural development.
