Photography at 2B_OFFICE: furniture made from certified cryptomeria wood from São Miguel Island, in the Azores The concept: 2B_OFFICE is an architectural project that aims to raise awareness of the urgency of choosing certified products to promote active forest management and its benefits in combating Climate Change! What it means: 2B_OFFICE is a community-driven project that involved several Portuguese partners who wanted to demonstrate their commitment to certified forests. Since 2017, 2BForest has supported owners with certified forest areas as the managing entity of a national FSC® certification group. The work that 2BForest carries out in this area involves many challenges, the main one being the lack of market recognition of certified forest-based products and the consequent lack of appreciation for them. This reality is often the main reason for the lack of motivation to certify the forest – there is no recognition of the effort and investment made in improving forest management. In 2019, with this problem in mind and identifying the urgent need to alert the market to the importance of ensuring sustainability in the origin of forestry products in construction, 2BForest began the challenge of creating the first Iberian FSC certification project: 2B_OFFICE. 2B_OFFICE has two very relevant milestones: · The space is open to the public, where co-workers can have close contact with FSC-certified products and acquire greater knowledge about their importance in protecting national forests, and; · The involvement of national partners, from the forest to the processing, promoting their commercial commitment to the protection and valorization of the world's forests among end consumers! Partners from the Autonomous Region of the Azores have made it possible to bring to 2B_Office a set of furniture and coverings produced with certified wood from the Azores Cryptomeria, sourced from public forests managed by the Regional Directorate of Forest Resources and processed by the company Marques Britas, SA. 2BForest clients also joined the challenge of integrating this innovative project, such as Grupo Barros e Moreira SA and Multiplacas with materials that were used in the manufacture of 2B_Office furniture! This space also uses cork as a construction element, a material sourced from the Cork Oak – Portugal's National Tree! 2B_Office is the mirror that together and with innovation we can create “More and Better Forest”!
