08/05/2024: “Better Forest” Program – Practices for maintaining forest carbon and controlling invasive species
As part of the Transform Agenda's "Better Forest" Program, co-financed by the PRR, 2Bforest is a partner in the implementation of a network of demonstration fields for Good Forestry Practices, which serve as an example to promote "ACTIVE FOREST MANAGEMENT".
On May 8th, at 2:30 pm, we will present an online session to disseminate good forestry practices aimed at carbon sequestration and storage in pine and eucalyptus forests invaded by exotic species on a certified property in the 2B_Forest_Group – Mata de Marrazes.
This session, integrated in the Invasive Species Week: Portugal & Spain 2024, will feature the participation of the Union of Parishes of Marrazes and Barosa and aims to showcase the forest carbon conservation practices being implemented in the Marrazes Forest. In addition to playing a key role in optimizing forest ecosystem services, particularly by increasing carbon sequestration and storage, the UFMB has also actively contributed to controlling the growth of invasive alien species, such as acacia, sugarcane, and pampas grass.
