04/10/2024: Field Session - Strawberry tree regeneration and carbon sequestration - “Better Forest” program
On the day November 4, 2024, at 10 am at the Lameira property, in Alferce, the demonstration field of good forestry practices for the recovery of burned areas of strawberry trees with a view to carbon sequestration will be presented. on the property managed by José Paulo Duarte Nunes and certified by the 2B_Forest_Group.

The Better Forest Program, included in the TransForm Agenda of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), aims to transfer knowledge on sustainable forest management and good forestry practices through the digital transformation of the forestry sector, for a resilient economy and carbon neutrality.
Management of this area focuses on natural regeneration and the planting of native species, such as strawberry trees and cork oaks, with the aim of increasing the forest's resilience and promoting long-term sustainability.
This session will bring together forest owners and other professionals in the sector to share information about the management actions that have been carried out on this property affected by the 2018 fire, giving due importance to forest management in reducing the risk of fires, enhancing the value of non-wood forest products (cork and arbutus) and ecological restoration of the region.
Lameira is certified for ecosystem services, specifically carbon sequestration, a mechanism that aims to value and remunerate owners for services provided to society.
