Ecosystem Services Project

Promoting the Valuation of Forest Ecosystem Services

The assessment and valorization of ecosystem services (ES), such as water cycle regulation, erosion control, and carbon sequestration, are essential to promoting forest sustainability and conservation. These services, often undervalued in the market, can be integrated into payment for ecosystem services (PES) schemes, enabling better management and protection of forest areas, as well as their economic value.

Ecosystem Services Project

In this project, 2BForest is responsible for a pilot area in Arouca, in order to test the international methodologies for evaluating and valuing Ecosystem Services adapted in the project by the consortium's research units, so that they can be subsequently recognized within the scope of FSC ecosystem services certification.

Protect to care

Forestry safety depends on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Since 2017, 2BForest has distributed more than 2,000 reflective vests to certified forest workers and owners, ensuring their protection during forestry operations. Proper use of PPE is essential to prevent accidents and save lives, which is why this project aims to raise awareness in the sector about the importance of investing in worker safety. Providing PPE and ongoing training are essential to ensuring the safety and success of forestry operations.
